you are an ephemeral shade,
flitting like candle lit shadows
in the cracks and crannies
of an old brick wall.
the more i bring the light to see you,
the further i drive you away,
living in the nuances that are
the edge of the light and darkness as you do.
magically moving faster than an eye can catch,
no one knows where you actually are,
but just in what region you will be found,
and what you will be when you are there,
not how you will be,
which changes in every moment,
but what you’ll be,
which has never changed,
from the moment you first manifested,
when the candle was lit.
